Just saw WEOS Musical Productions’ “The Sound of Music” at the Tyne Theatre and it was outstanding!! Honestly, it was one of the best versions I’ve seen of the show, so authentic to the movie. Took me back to my childhood and was very emotional.

K. Rhodes

Congratulations WEOS, absolutely beautiful show today. Fantastic – we loved every bit of it.

Back in 2020, the world came to an abrupt stop and COVID-19 had taken over our lives resulting in The Sound of Music being cancelled. We tried again the following October but then lockdown struck. However in October 2021, there was a glimmer of hope when we invited the cast back and finally brought The Sound of Music to the stage at The Tyne Theatre and Opera House.

The Sound of Music has to be one of the most loved  shows in the history of musicals and most definitely “third time lucky” for WEOS Musical Productions.

A tuneful, heartwarming story that is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II.  Maria, a tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey takes a journey on becoming a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children and brings a new love of life and music into the home.

Our two groups of very talented Von Trapp children have been outstanding throughout with endless fun and laughter echoing around the rehearsal space and the theatre’s auditorium. Together with our principals and ensemble, they have all worked extremely hard.  Below is a collage of memories from rehearsals, show week and behind the scenes.
